✨ Highlights📊 Transcript
The video explains the difference between single and dual carriageway and their respective speed limits.
00:02
Confusion arises when seeing a national speed limit sign, as it differs for single and dual carriageways.
On a single carriageway, the maximum speed limit is 60 miles per hour, while on a dual carriageway, it's 70 miles per hour.
The video aims to clarify the distinction between the two types of roadways.
A single carriageway is a road with cars separated by a centerline, while a dual carriageway has a center reservation separating the opposite sides.
01:28
In a single carriageway, cars coming from the opposite direction are separated by a centerline.
A dual carriageway is separated by a center reservation, which can be a strip of land, barrier, or railing.
The left side of a dual carriageway is a separate carriageway for each direction.
The video explains the difference between single and dual carriageways in the UK.
02:56
Dual carriageway is characterized by a piece of land with a railing in the middle.
Single carriageway is separated by road markings in the middle.
Dual carriageway is divided by railings and has separate carriageways on each side.
Single carriageway has cars coming from the opposite side without any physical separation.
00:02hi welcome to driving TV and I hope you
00:06are well in this video I'd like to talk
00:09to you about the difference between a
00:12dual carriageway and a single
00:15carriageway many they get confused when
00:18they see a sign of national speed limit
00:22they get confused whether this road is a
00:26single carriageway or if it's a dual
00:29carriageway because the national speed
00:32limit
00:34on a single carriageway is different
00:37than the double carriageway so they get
00:40confused whether this road is a single
00:42carriageway or if it's a dual
00:45carriageway so thus what I will be
00:48explaining in this video if you are new
00:50to the channel don't forget to subscribe
00:52so you don't miss any of my future
00:54videos and let's start the lesson okay
00:58so if you see this sign on a carriageway
01:02this is known as national speed limit
01:06sign and if you see this one on a single
01:10carriageway it will be maximum 60 miles
01:13per hour and if you see this on a dual
01:16carriageway it will be maximum 70 miles
01:20per hour now let's talk about the
01:22difference between a single carriageway
01:24and a dual carriageway now single
01:28carriageway would be a road which is a
01:30single Road and cars coming from the
01:33opposite direction will be separated by
01:36the centerline only so the centerline
01:40will separate cars coming from the
01:42opposite and it's a single Road now on
01:47your side you could be one lane or it
01:49could be two lane but the center line
01:53would be separating the opposite side so
01:57if it's a dual carriageway it will be
02:00separated the opposite side by a center
02:04reservation it will not be separated by
02:07a centerline it will be separated by
02:10either a strip of land in the middle or
02:13a barrier or a railing in the middle and
02:17the left side would be a carriageway
02:19separate to the opposite carriageway it
02:22will be two different carriageway for
02:25each way so if you look here this is a
02:29single carriageway and it is separated
02:31by a centre line in the middle in this
02:35case is the double white line it could
02:39be just a single centre line
02:42and here as you can see a dual
02:45carriageway which is left side is a
02:49carriageway for only for you to go and
02:52there is a center reservation separating
02:56the opposite side coming comes from the
02:59other side as you can see here piece of
03:02land with a railing in the middle so
03:05this is a dual carriageway if you were
03:11driving on this road this would be a
03:13single carriageway and as you can see
03:16cars coming from the opposite and this
03:19separating the opposite side is only by
03:22a road markings in the middle so if the
03:25sign was here of a national speed limit
03:28this would be a single carriageway so
03:32this would be 60 if it had the national
03:35speed limit sign in this world if we
03:40were driving on this road this would be
03:42a double carriageway as you can see the
03:45opposite side is divided by or separated
03:49by railings in the middle and it's not a
03:53centerline so the left side has a
03:56carriageway and the opposite side is
03:59divided or separated by railings which
04:02is a separate carriageway and this is
04:05known as a double Hariri okay that's it
04:09for today and I hope you enjoyed the
04:11video if you did please do give a thumbs
04:14up and please do make a comment on the
04:16video and if you are new to the channel
04:18don't forget to subscribe so you don't
04:20miss any of my future videos and I hope
04:23to see you again on the next video bye
